Preparing the deck builder…
00Free MTG Deck Builder

Build any Magic: The Gathering deck, free, in your browser.

TableCommander’s deck builder is a complete tool for Commander, Standard, Modern, Pioneer, Legacy, Pauper, Brawl and more. No account is required to start. Search Magic’s entire card pool, drag a commander into place, fill out your singleton 100, and check your mana curve in real time. When you’re ready, sign in to save the list, share it, or take it straight to a virtual table with friends.

How the builder works

  1. Pick a format. Commander, Modern, Standard, Legacy, Vintage, Pioneer, Pauper, Brawl, Oathbreaker, or casual. The builder applies the right deck-size and singleton rules automatically.
  2. Choose a commander (Commander, Brawl, Oathbreaker only). Color identity restricts which cards you can add to the rest of the deck, and the builder enforces this for you while you search.
  3. Search and add cards. Filter by colour, type, mana cost, rarity, set or format legality. Every card from Magic’s entire history is searchable, drawn from the latest Scryfall data.
  4. Watch the curve and shape. Mana curve, colour distribution, type breakdown and total card count update on every change so you can spot a top-heavy curve or a missing land count before your first game.
  5. Validate. A real-time legality check flags banned cards, duplicate singletons, colour-identity violations and missing land counts for the format you picked.
  6. Save, import, export, or play. Sign in to save the deck to your collection. Or paste a Moxfield or Archidekt list to import in seconds. Export as plain text or JSON. Or jump to a live table and play the deck with up to five other people from your browser.

Importing from Moxfield, Archidekt, Aetherhub

If you already keep your decks elsewhere, paste the plain decklist into the importer and the builder will resolve every card name against Magic’s full database, flagging anything ambiguous so you can pick the right printing. Most lists import in under five seconds. See the full import guide for the supported formats and edge cases.

Building for Commander (EDH)

Commander is the most popular Magic format and the one most of our users build for. A few constraints to keep in mind while the builder helps you enforce them:

  • Exactly one legendary creature (or planeswalker that says “can be your commander”) as the commander.
  • Exactly 100 cards including the commander; singleton, so no duplicates other than basic lands.
  • Every card’s colour identity must fit inside the commander’s colour identity.
  • Aim for 36-38 lands, 8-12 ramp pieces, 8-12 ways to draw cards, and 8-12 ways to interact. The exact split depends on your bracket.

Frequently asked questions

Is the deck builder really free?
Yes. Building, importing, exporting, validating and even playing a full game in a virtual table are free. Optional supporter tiers exist if you want to back the project, but they unlock cosmetics, not features.
Do I need an account?
You can build and export decks as a guest without signing in. Sign in if you want to save decks to your collection, share them, or play them at a virtual table.
Can I play the deck I just built?
Yes. After saving the deck, head to a virtual table and select it. TableCommander supports 2-6 player free-for-all Commander games with real-time card play, life tracking, the command zone, dice and tokens.
Where does the card data come from?
Card text, types, mana costs and legality are drawn from the Scryfall API and refreshed regularly. Card images are served directly from the Scryfall CDN.
